Wizards of the Coast published the Reality Fracture Update Bulletin ahead of the set's worldwide release on October 2, 2026. The bulletin summarizes changes to Magic's Comprehensive Rules and updates to the official text of several existing cards.
One of the additions is rule 701.71, which defines the new keyword action used to empower Jace. The change gives the Reality Fracture mechanic a formal place in Magic's rules framework rather than leaving its behavior only in reminder or release material.
The update also clarifies how mana abilities that grant haste work. Generator Servant and Arena of Glory can produce mana that gives a creature spell haste. Wizards clarified the template so that spending any of the relevant mana on the creature spell is sufficient; the entire amount produced by the ability does not need to be spent on that spell.
Charmed Pendant also received a wording adjustment. Its instruction to activate only as an instant is now treated as reminder text rather than part of the functional restriction text. This follows earlier rules changes affecting how the ability is classified.
For players, the practical lesson is that the current official card text and the Comprehensive Rules remain the authoritative references when older printed wording differs from current functionality. Wizards explicitly notes that the official rules take precedence if a summary conflicts with the Comprehensive Rules.
MTG Compendium will use these official updates as primary-source information when card text, rules explanations or related reference pages are updated. The goal is to connect current announcements with structured card and format data without treating secondary summaries as the source of truth.
